Project UNNATI is a skilling program that’s aim to improve the livelihoods of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG NREGA) beneficiaries. It has been launched by Ministry of Rural Development (Skills Division) with an intends to upgrade the skill-base of MG NREGA workers, and thereby improve their livelihoods, so that they can move from the partial employment to full employment and thereby reduce their dependence on MG NREGA.
Under this project one adult member (of age 18-45 years) of a household who has completed 100 days of work under MGNREGA in the FY 2024-2025 shall be skilled.
Objectives of UNNATI:
1. Skill enhancement:
To provide training programs that equip MGNREGA workers with new skills, allowing them to take on more diverse and higher-paying jobs beyond basic unskilled manual labour.
2. Livelihood improvement:
By enhancing skills, the project intends to improve the income and overall livelihood of MGNREGA beneficiaries.
3. Reduced dependence on MGNREGA:
The goal is to gradually decrease the need for MGNREGA employment by enabling workers to find more stable and higher-paying jobs
4. Empowerment:
To empower MGNREGA workers by providing them with the necessary skills to access better employment opportunities.
